Laima 70% (Latvia)

This bittersweet chocolate is made by Latvia’s largest chocolate manufacturer Laima. The company traces its origins to the 19th century, when the Theodor Riegert company was one of the largest confectioners in the Baltic Provinces of the Russian Empire. Despite the loss of Russian markets, the company maintained its major market position domestically following Latvia’s independence in 1918. The current company name was adopted in 1925.
Laima produces a number of chocolate bars, candies and sweets.
Their bittersweet chocolate bar contains 70% cocoa solids. It has a rich flavor, fruity notes of berries and citrus, and a weak bitterness in the end. Actually surprisingly fruity. Not as fantastic as the best chocolates from Amedei, but to be a fairly cheap chocolate the flavor is good. The flavor intensity could have been stronger.
