Kalev Chocolates (Estonia)
In 1948 the old Kawe Confectionary Factory in Estonia, which was started in 1921, was renamed Kalev. After the Soviet era had ended, Kalev was privatised in 1995. The main activity of AS Kalev Chocolate Factory is the manufacturing of chocolate and sugar confectionery products and sales of chocolate, sugar and flour confectionery products. Most of the production is sold on the Estonian market, where the market share on chocolates is about 40 to 45%, but the company is also actively engaged in export. The main foreign markets are the Baltic Republics and Scandinavian countries, but also Russia.
Kalev has created some great chocolates. On the photo you can see a dark chocolate with dried cherries, a white chocolate with dried blueberries and crisps, and a chocolate bisquit with tiramisu flavor.
All these three chocolates have high quality. I was particularly surprised by the exceptionally good flavor of the white chocolate, which in my opinion is one of the best flavored white chocolates I have ever tasted. It has, however, a very sweet flavor, perhaps somewhat too high sugar content.
